Horizon Australian Shepherds Policy Statement
At Horizon, we make a lifetime commitment to our dogs. We expect anyone who acquires a dog from us to do the same. We do understand that at times, one may encounter unforeseen difficulties. Because of this, we require that no dog from Horizon may be sold or re-homed without our permission. We do this to ensure that a suitable home is found and that we always are aware where they are and their living circumstances. We are always willing to take the dog back and find it a suitable home.
We will ask questions to determine your familiarity with the breed and your lifestyle and expectations. This will help in determining if an Aussie is the right dog for you, and which puppy would be best suited for your family. We are always willing to help to educate and guide you in your search. Many of the links on our links page are good sources of information. We will also be there as a mentor and guide after you take your dog home for as long as you would like.
Our puppies are whelped and raised for the first weeks in the house. They are very people oriented and loving. Parents have been OFA'd and CERF'd and puppies come with a health guarantee. Pet puppies are sold with Limited registration papers and spay/neuter contracts. Copies of our contracts are available on request.
Stud Service
My dogs are OFA'd and eyes are cleared before they are used for breeding. Stud dogs will have a brucellosis test prior to breeding an outside bitch. I will breed only to approved bitches with required health clearances. I must feel satisfied that the owner is a responsible breeder/owner and shares a dedication to the breed.
